For a successful identification you need:

• one of the following identity documents: German identity card, residence permit, or eID card for EU citizens.
• The corresponding PIN.
• An NFC-enabled smartphone.

With AUTHADA, you can identify yourself digitally online from anywhere in the most efficient manner possible. Your smartphone serves as a reader for your ID card.

The ID PIN and PUK

To identify yourself with the AUTHADA app, you need your ID card PIN. You will find your PIN and PUK in your PIN letter, which you received in the mail after applying for your ID card.
The five-digit transport PIN: Before using the online ID card function for the first time, you must change your ID card PIN. To do so, you will need the five-digit transport PIN from your PIN letter. With the AUTHADA app and the "Change PIN" function, you can assign a new, personal, six-digit PIN. Enter your five-digit transport PIN from your PIN letter and then assign the new six-digit PIN. In the future, you will always need this PIN if you want to use the online ID card function.
The PUK: If you enter your PIN incorrectly three times, your ID card PIN is blocked. With the AUTHADA app, you can unlock your ID card PIN using the "Unlock PIN" function and your PUK.
You can test whether the eID function is activated for your ID card with the AUTHADA app. To do this, select "self-disclosure" in the menu. If the eID function is not activated for your ID card, you will receive a notification when using the AUTHADA app.

The NFC-enabled smartphone

To use the AUTHADA app, you need an NFC-enabled smartphone. Most Android smartphones have an NFC interface and can thus read the German identity card, residence permit, and eID card for EU citizens.

The installed AUTHADA app

Once you have installed the AUTHADA app, you can use it to identify yourself to your service provider. To do this, open the website of your service provider and enter the displayed ident code into the AUTHADA app or scan the QR code with the AUTHADA app. Then follow the instructions in the app. You will need to hold your ID card up to the smartphone during the identification process and enter the ID card PIN into the app when requested. To complete the process, enter the TAN generated in the app on the service provider's website.

AUTHADA protects your privacy

AUTHADA's eID solution is certified by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) and ensures compliance with the highest security requirements. Personal data is only read out if it is legally required for the start of a business relationship between the user and the service provider. AUTHADA does not store your data.
